“Doing the Ask: Sales 101 for Non-Profits” -- At Lighthouse Voc-Ed Center
Monday, September 29, 2008 10:00 a.m.– 3:00 p.m.
This workshop will provide those working with non-profits (i.e., volunteers) as well as staff to learn techniques useful in marketing and selling their organization. The key component of the workshop will be a series of role playing exercises including examples of securing funding for a capital campaign and soliciting corporate donors for a major gala event. Basic selling and marketing techniques will be explored and discussed. The instructor for the workshop Harriet Grayson has more than fifteen years experience in the financial services industry marketing and selling products and services as well as a dozen years as a fundraiser with non-profits.
This intensive workshop will provide the planning framework as well as techniques, tried and true methods on how to effectively and successfully plan special events activities whether it’s a sales conference, a fundraising gala for a non-profit organization or a series of luncheons honoring individuals in the community. Who can gain from attending this full-day workshop: individuals who are volunteers for community organizations, businesses that plan award dinners and events for high performing associates, schools/colleges planning fundraising or award events, houses of worship that sponsor fundraising activities, local governments that plan award events and non-profit organizations engaged in fundraising activities. Harriet Grayson, the instructor for this workshop, has more than a dozen years experience as a fundraiser in the non-profit sector arranging honoring events, galas, volunteer appreciation events and other special events activities.
This extensive workshop will provide those with some familiarity and novices with an understanding of government funding including how to research and write grants. The workshop will cover public loans as surplus and donations. Included will be a detailed discussion of where to look for information and public sources of information on government funding grants. By the end of the workshop every attendee will be able to write a grant application and seek funding. Harriet Grayson, the instructor, is well versed on the subject. Check out her book- “Guide To Government Grants Writing.”
